The MercedesBenz R107 was the longest running model ever produced by the German maker, and remains today as one of the first cars many people think of when they hear the company's name. It was a star of TV and the movies, and defined success in the 1970s and 1980s. Overbuilt, expensive, stylish, and fun to drive, it was the last classic roadster built by MercedesBenz.

a 1989 560SL was the final incarnation of the R107, and was built 17 years after the model first appeared and probably 20 or so after it was designed. It was an absolute dinosaur even sitting on the showroom floor, but still drew in buyers willing to spend more than four times the price of an average car in 1989 a testament to the true luxury car it was, and not with frill or gimmicks but epic build quality, bank vault fit and finish, and liberal use of expensive materials and high end craftsmanship.

These cars were built to a standard, and not a cost and were designed to be used for as long as an owner was willing to keep them maintained.
