There are many critical organizations that are involved in the global fight against financial crimes. One of those organizations are Financial Intelligence Unit (or "FIU"). The core mandate of FIUs are essential for a country's AML/CFT operational network. FIUs also provide support to the work of other Competent Authorities, which includes Regulators.

FIUs are responsible for:

the receipt of disclosures filed by reporting entities;
conducting operational analysis of particular transactions and to determine links between specified targets and possible proceeds of crime, money laundering, predicate offences or terrorist financing;
conducting strategic analysis which uses data that may have been provided by other competent authorities to identify money laundering and terrorist financing related trends and patterns; and
disseminate information from analyses.
