TEDx Talks

In light of the events that have taken place over the past few years, and the ongoing discussions in the online space about many sensitive issues related to culture and race, Kayne Kawasaki has taken to social media to fulfil a role as an edutainer. In his talk, Kayne has chosen to create a toolkit that aims to guide people in their conversations on these topics. He focuses in particular on the terms Cultural Appropriation and Cultural appropriation and how the two concepts differ from one another in practice. Kayne Kawasaki is a Cultural Commentator and UK Black History Educator from Peckham, South East London. He began his career teaching in Secondary Schools in his hometown. He has now shifted the focus of his teaching skills towards UK black history and started creating content on Tiktok. Within a year, Kayne has amassed over 400k video views collectively and has consulted for English Heritage, Notting Hill Carnival and Tiktok to name a few. Kayne has quickly become one of the goto voices for factual, historical and statistical information regarding race relations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
