[Updates below] John Doe, our 16 (coming on 17) year old male tabby, getting his back scratched at the right spot. Deaf as a doorknob, not a single tooth left in his head and unable to maneuver well due to a swollen liver from old age, he loves getting scratched where he can no longer reach himself.

Update 30th December 2020:

Wow, the sudden interest in this old video came out of nowhere. Quite a few questions asked, but rather than try and reply individually, I thought it would be easier to just add in answers to some of the most common questions and comments here in the description.

Yes, John Doe was the sweetest boy you'll ever meet, just an all around nice guy.

I have 11 cats. Ironic as I'm allergic to cat dander, but somehow cats love to adopt my house as their home. Go figure.

No, unfortunately John Doe is no longer with us and passed away last year at 18. His liver gave up after a long fight. He died in my arms. He has a sister, Jane Doe, who is still alive though and who will be 20 in a few months time. I'll probably upload a video of her so you can see what an old dame from the cat world looks like. (Update 5th Jan'21: Meet Jane Doe    • Meet Jane Doe, my 20 yearold cat and...  )

For those that asked what could he eat with no teeth, we mashed up wet cat food which he took to pretty much swallowing straight. He still managed to eat quite a bit hence his still rotund figure.

He wasn't born deaf but went deaf after a bout of fever when his liver acted up. I don't understand it, but it was sudden. He used to be able to have an uncanny ability to hear me opening up a can of his food no matter how quiet or far away I was, and when he stopped reacting is when we starting realizing he was deaf, and tests later confirmed it.

On to the more unsavory questions and comments. For those that felt that this is the "GSpot" and is where a female cat gets stimulated when being mounted, John Doe was actually a male tabby cat so he would be the "mounter" rather than the "mountee". But as he was also neutered, I'm not sure he had any ability left to be aroused. Plus he only started acting like this when his liver started causing him problems where he didn't have the same dexterity to twist back and groom himself, so it was more of satisfying an itch he couldn't reach. And while I am aware how some female cats respond by raising and arching their bottom up when the base of their tail is scratched, as you can see with John there was no raising of the bottom as what you would expect when his back was scratched. But I'm also aware that people will say what they will no matter what, though I thought it's important to point this out anyways. Take it how you will.

Finally, thanks to everyone for all the love suddenly shown for a video of my old sweet boy. I miss him.
