SANTA FE SPRINGS At 6:40 pm Santa Fe Springs Fire responded to a report of wires down at the Swap Meet located at 13963 Alondra Blvd.
When crews arrived they saw heavy black smoke coming from the area as well as large sparks coming from the power pole. Firefighters quickly went into attack mode to salvage the structure under the wires but large sparks coming from the transformer nearly electrocuted a couple firefighters working under the lines. Crews were able to knock down the fire within an hour and So Cal Edison was called for the electrical issue. No firemen were hurt but an ambulance was on scene as a precaution.
