Swans are the largest members of the water bird family, with their close relatives being geese and ducks. There are three extant species of swans, four of which have white plumage. The black swan, native to Australia as the name suggests, has mainly black plumage with white flight feathers. While the blacknecked swan has white body plumage with a black neck. Most swan species prefer temperate regions; during the colder months of the year, they migrate to warmer climates. Swans are 0.9 to 1.5 meters tall; they weigh between 10 to 16 kg and have a wingspan of 2 to 3.5 meters depending on the species.
