Layout method to trim a 90 ° elbow to any desired cut angle without using a calculator or a chart of dimensions. Works for multiple pipe sizes in metric and imperial systems.


If you use a folding rule , drill a small hole at the 1unit mark and another at 28.65 (difference is 27.65 = 57.3/2). Scribe an arc with the rule by holding a nail in one hole the center of the circle and holding a pencil in the other.



Turn the rule on its edge and bend it along the arc. Measure along the rule to find the arc length with 27.65, each inch measured along the arc will be equivalent to 2 degrees.



IE: a measure of 7.5 = 15 Degrees. (7.5 X 2) in Metric or Imperial units.
