The same swell that hit Jaws hit Mavericks in Half Moon Bay, California on October 19th, 2023. I took the redeye from Hawaii to California to chase it. Along with some others, we were welcomed with sun and 80 degree temperature. Which has to be one of the warmest days ever for a Mavericks swell.

As I was heading to the airport the night before, I was tripping out at how big Mavericks was already. The long period swell brought so much energy that evening. Which made me super pumped for the swell.

We got to Half Moon Bay at 7:30 AM and I started filming around 8:30.
Filmed til about 4:00 PM until the heavy fog rolled in and that beautiful sunny day turned into a dark cold foggy evening. So there was no better place to escape the fog and meet up with everyone at the local bar 'Old Princeton Landing'
