If you have a Subaru WRX or STI, most likely you want to use the best oil filter that you can get when you change your oil. But what makes a good oil filter?

For a long time Subaru oil filters were made by Tokyo Roki, and were considered to be very high quality. Through the years Subaru has switched to a few other oil filter manufacturers, but the Tokyo Roki filters are largely considered the best.

Roger Clark Motorsport liked theTokyo Roki filters as well, and they decided to see if they could make a WRX STI oil filter that would out perform the Subaru Tokyo Roki filter. After a lot of testing, they accomplished their goal, and that was the origin of the RCM High Performance Oil filter.

The RCM oil filter is designed to provide more consistent pressure through the rpm range, has a filter rating of 20 microns, and a bypass valve pressure of 1.7 kg/cm^2.

As more people are finding the RCM Oil Filter, it has brought up a number of questions about what the difference is between the current Subaru filter, the Tokyo Roki Subaru filter, and the Roger Clark oil filter.

We got examples of those filters, opened them up, and did what we could to find out.
