1/2” Copper has a 5/8” outside diameter. Unlike other products that are less expensive and have typically a 3/4” diameter opening which leaves a 1/8” gap, Red Disc Seal leaves a 0.5 mm gap (0.020”) which is then sealed using an oring.

Also, it is now available for 1/2” galvanized pipe which has an outside diameter of 7/8”.

How to correctly seal around 1/2" copper tub spout pipe and avoid potential water leak damage.

When water gets past the tub spout's seal it could cause damage behind the wall. I've used this solution with success in rental properties since 2017. Red Disc Seal works much better than caulking the opening because it has a snugfit Oring that seals around the 1/2" copper pipe.
