For the second year in a row, we stopped by the Cal Fire Fire Dozer Training in Southern California. Cal Fire partners with the Marine Corp's base at Camp Pendleton where the training is held. Cal Fire and surrounding agencies meet on the base each year to train fire dozer operators in realworld scenarios by pushing and maintaining fire breaks on the massive base that is Camp Pendleton.
Fire breaks are lines that are cut into the earth where the vegetation is cleared. They work by starving fires of fuel grasses, weeds, trees, brush, etc. In theory, once the fire reaches the fire break it will stop spreading, helping firefighters to contain wildfires. #wildfire #californiawildfires #calfire
