Overreliance on fanservice and nostalgia is a big problem in today's movie and TV landscape, and I think one major symptom of this problem is the massive volume of prequels we've been seeing lately. From Star Wars shows like ObiWan and Andor to fantasy projects like Rings of Power and the Fantastic Beasts movies, I think there are just too many of them.
