Creating a great D&D villain is more than just giving a mook more hit points and a bigger weapon. Villains should be created with as much careif not morethan D&D player characters. They should get a villainous backstory, motivations, personality traits, lairs, and more. Each D&D villain should be a fullyrealized character in their own right, so that there's plenty for the heroes to hate or pity, for them to oppose, and for you (the Dungeon Master) to portray.
