Standing Up for Justice: When the Law and Science Work Hand-in-Hand

This closing lecture features the lived experience of Mr. Marvin Anderson, an exoneree who was falsely accused and wrongfully convicted in 1982 of robbery, sodomy, abduction, and rape of a Young woman. Anderson served over 15 years in prison and 4 years on parole before DNA testing proved his innocence. In 2002, thenVirginiaGovernor,Mark Warner, granted Anderson a full pardon. Following his release, Anderson served as chief of the Hanover, Virginia Fire Department, where he oversaw a team of 30 people. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Innocence Project. Following his remarks, Mr. Anderson is joined by Dr. Willie May, PresidentElect, AAAS, and Vice President, Research and Economic Development, Morgan State, for discussion and audience Q&A.
