How to install the best subfloor in your Sprinter Van Without Sacrificing Heat or Height. #Vanlife is about keeping what's important and losing the rest. This is never more true than you build a custom van. Starting from the subfloor, it's crucial to make good choices, use the best materials and process, and move with purpose.
The focus for this build is threefold.
HEAT How to insulate and isolate the floor as much as possible to prevent heat from escaping (winter) or entering (summer) the van.
HEIGHT How to create a rocksolid subfloor that doesn't eat up those precious inches of headroom.
HOLLA How to block as much sound transmission through the floor as possible and create an acoustically dead or anechoic space inside the van.
My dad used to say, "Good artists imitate. Great artists steal." I'm pretty sure he stole that line. In the spirit of great artistry, and in remembrance of my entirely crazy dad, I offer special thanks to George Mauro for his inspiration and coaching. I can say with absolute confidence that I've stolen from the very best. Maybe, just maybe, we stumbled on an innovation or two as well.
