Spider Pumpkins Arachnophobia Jack O' Lanterns

I make giant Halloween spiderspumpkins from scrap rebar. These Arachnophobia inducing Jack O' Lanterns are modeled after the anatomy of Black Widow spiders. I referenced several images and pulled measurements to get the most lifelike leg and leg segment to body (cephalothorax) and abdomen. I built a spreadsheet to give me the correct sized spider parts to fit whatever sized pumpkin I have. Now that I have the “SpiderPumpkin Calculator” I can make these to fit most pumpkins and still retain the natural proportions.

Near the end of the video I show the legs being welded to the body. I only tack welded them for the video. In the shot where I spin the rebar spider you can see that I finished the welds on all of the knuckles and joints.

If I were to change anything, I might try larger rebar spikes to better handle the pumpkins weight.
