My thoughts:
This is a weird drive. It was made by what seems to be a power company, and it looks like it's thrown together. I like this drive because it's strange, but I don't recommend it to anyone. I have very little information on this unit in general. The scraping you hear at the start and end, I have no idea what that is. This drive does not appear to have an electromechanical brake. The stepper seems to jump during power up, even though the heads should not move before the drive is up to speed. Not sure what that's about. Additionally, the actuator lock only actually engages the stepper wheel in one position, all the way in the landing zone. This drive is full of bad blocks, but it makes an interesting sound, and I'm glad to have it in my collection, and glad to demo it. The logo in the thumbnail may look shoddy, but that's because I had to crop it from an eBay listing for another product they manufactured.
