APR 23, 2024: Hoshi gave birth for the last time, to five beautiful, healthy kittens! Mom and babies are doing great, although we are monitoring Hoshi closely for potential mastitis. We just HAD to go with a donut theme, given Hoshi's deep love for her emotional support donut:

Hoshi is the first pregnant cat to show up at our Happy Forest feral colony since late 2020. Happily, she has type A blood, which means there's no risk of neonatal isoerythrolysis whew! We're so grateful to our amazing team of Happy Forest volunteers who have done SUCH an outstanding job socializing her, so we all get to enjoy a less stressful final pregnancy and birth!

We livestream our rescued cats, 24 hours a day, uncensored, to raise awareness about the realities of cat overpopulation in a way that inspires compassion. Watching Hoshi give birth for the last time is a great way for parents and kids to experience the “miracle of birth” without letting their own pets give birth and further contributing to overpopulation.

We first started TNR at our Happy Forest feral colony in 2015. 426 cats later, we have the colony very well stabilized and are helping them age as gracefully as possible. When new kitties like Hoshi show up, we do maintenance TNR to keep the colony from growing again.
