Finally, the BME280 is installed and running on the same I2C bus at the BMP280. Baseline air and soil data for future experiments is now being collected with an official start date of August 1, 2023 in saturated soil conditions.

In this video, I provide a stepbystep summary of the latest updates including integration of multiple I2C devices into one instrument and improvements to my field installation. The new protoboard will allow additional I2C sensors to be added should I deem them to be necessary.

Of greatest significance, I learned it's important to break down these designs down into very small pieces so you can debug and improve in shade of your workshop rather than trying to figure things out in the field. Frankly, I thought I was doing that already doing that, but quickly learned there's always one more step you can discretize (especially when it's 110F outside).
