We stayed a month in Polomolok, a small'ish town north of General Santos City (Mindanao). Hometel Vernones was affordable (6k PHP per month, fully furnished studio type), quiet and we had a very nice view from the balcony where we ate breakfast and dinner almost daily. The street was just outside the balcony (our room was on the other side), but it wasn't too noisy.

We also took a walk in the area. Polomolok has a very nice feel to it. A bit warm maybe, but cooler than Gensan (what isn't?) and a very nice small town vibe.
