SLIEMA MALTA Hidden Gems Unveiled!

Follow
Grape Soda Travels

Come with us as we explore Sliema, a town located on the northeast coast of Malta in the Northern Harbour District. It is a major residential and commercial area and a centre for shopping, bars, dining, and café life. It is also the most densely populated town on the island.

The shore line at Sliema is really interesting with windshaped sandstone and salt pans. There’s a great view across to Malta’s capital, Valletta.

We felt right at home when we discovered Fort Cambridge!

We have three cats and miss them very much when we’re away so it was a joy to visit the stray cats at Independence Gardens or Ġnien Indipendenza. You can support them here:   / catsofindependencegardens

The memorial mural to Paulina Dembska was very moving. Her murder led to a change in Malta’s laws. #imeverywoman You can find the artist on Instagram @jaapeel

We visited Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Knisja talKarmnu) otherwise known as the Carmelite Church or Balluta Parish Church. It’s a neogothic Roman Catholic parish church located in Balluta Bay in the town of St Julian's.

We had a nice (and vaguely healthy!) lunch at Eeet Well @eeetwell4266
Check out the briliiant Cat sculpture by Matthew Pandolfino!

It was probably a bit too hot to explore Manoel Island but we did it anyway! Count many times Naomi says ‘odd’…!

We return to have some refreshing drinks at our hotel, AX The Palace. Phew! It’s always good to sit down with your trusty Lonely Planet guide book and a cool Cisk lager @LonelyPlanet @cisk8327

If you’ve watched our videos before, you’ll know that Naomi LOVES a book exchange! She swapped the book she’d finished on the plane for “Loving Frank” by Nancy Horan, a Richard and Judy Book Club choice. @richardandjudybookclub

We give you a room tour – check out the ridiculously huge bed! We highly recommend @HotelsMalta

We head to St Gregory’s for their Easter Sunday procession. Quite the community event. There’s even a brass band!

Finally we head to dinner at Il Fortizza #omnomnom
