Singapore: Lawrence Wong To Replace Lee Hsien Loong As Prime Minister

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has decided to step down from his duties. He announced that he would pass the reins to his current Deputy Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, on May 15. This will be Singapore’s first leadership change in the past 20 years. 72yearold Lee had planned to step down from his duties in 2020, but his plans were disrupted by the COVID19 pandemic. Post which he has actively endorsed Lawrence as the new generation leader. He wanted to do it before Singapore’s general election. Lawrence says that he is honoured to accept this responsibility as Singapore’s new Prime Minister.
