A comparison of a male voice close talking with the Shure SM7B and the Shure SM57.
Both mics are being run thru a Cloudlifter CL2 via 3foot cables.
Other than some equal gain being added in post, there was no postprocessing done.
Audio Chain is : Mics to CL2 to Mackie 1220 Mixer (left/right split) to MAudio Mtrack II to Audacity on PC
The SM57 needed less gain; about 5db worth.
Not sure where the hum on the SM57 came from, as the cable trail was the same, but I noticed the SM57 was much more susceptible to electromagnetic interference. The SM7B is pretty much immune on the other hand.
I do realize the SM57 doesn't sound

Check out the video below for a comparison between the two after some EQing. They sound in more similar!
