When looking to buy a new family pet, it is important to do your research in order to make sure you are making a good decision. For most families, the British Shorthair Cat is a fantastic choice of pet, so let’s discuss the pro’s and con’s of the breed.

The British Shorthair cat is a hugely popular breed within the UK, and is actually in fact the 5th most popular breed in the US, according to The Cat Fanciers Association. A purebred & registered British Shorthair can cost around £1000 in the UK, up to $1800 in the US, and up to $2000 in Australia. If you purchase a cat through an unregistered breeder then you can expect the cost to be up to 4x lower, but there is no certification or guarantee that your cat is a healthy purebred, hence the much lower value.
