Cedar is too soft to be a door sill all by itself. But when I checked, sill plates were pricey. About $100 average for junk all they up to $545 for oak and adjustable.
When did everything get crazy stupid priced?
So, using a bit of thrifting I made my own sill plate out of a new rug runner and anodized aluminum kick plate. AND it looks great.
All for about $38.00 which is what I expected to pay for sill plate tbh.
The benefit of this narrow arrangement is anybody can resaw the bottom of the door in the future should it get a little splash rot. All part of the 1000 year home design concept.
