Springtime sunshine arrives at the Severn Valley Railway, along with the annual Spring Steam Gala, with a varied selection of guest engines running alongside the SVR home fleet.

Making appearances on the local services were visiting locos LBSCR A1X Terrier No.72 'Fenchurch', Kitson Lambton Tank No.29 and GWR 1366 Collett Pannier Tank 1369, with the latter being a last minute stand in following withdrawal of Port Talbot 060ST 813 from the gala lineup. 1369 would also appropriately be seen paired with the railway's set of restored GWR Goods wagons. An added bonus guest to the event was BR(E) Peppercorn A2 60532 'Blue Peter' on display at Kidderminster Station, following LSL's test runs of the loco along the line earlier in April.

The event additionally saw the first outing of LMS Stanier Mogul 13268 following repaint into lined LMS Black, making for a perfect pairing with the railway's rake of LMS Stanier Coaches. Southern West Country Class 21C127 'Taw Valley' made a return, still carrying Southern Wartime Black. The Bulleid Pacific had previously been withdrawn for overhaul work back in January, but with work on the loco yet to begin, and her boiler still in ticket, she was available to cover the noshow of GWR NewBuild Grange Class 6880 'Betton Grange'.
