Brad Panovich severe weather VLOG 1/9/24: Dynamic storm system brings multiple threats to North Carolina and South Carolina. Tuesday is a day to be Weather Aware in the Carolinas due to the potential for severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes.

The Carolinas will see a multitude of threats Tuesday as a dynamic storm system brings the risk of tornadoes, heavy rain, damaging winds, flooding and power outages to the region, according to Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich. In this special severe weather VLOG, Panovich outlines the timing, risks and gives his latest severe weather outlook for the Charlotte, North Carolina, region on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Panovich says we will be at risk from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. due to wind gusts that could be between 4060 mph. Some gusts could be up to 75 mph and we can't rule out isolated tornadoes and heavy rain. Up to 5 inches of rain is possible in the mountains and foothills. Combine that with the wind and there could be widespread power outages in the region.
