Settlers of Lake O'Higgins
In the harsh and desolate geography of rainy Aysén (south Chile), a group of settlers struggles to survive on the shores of Lake O'Higgins. Augusto Grosse filmed in 1944 in 16 mm colour reversal some of the activities of the founding settlers. The documentary, based on these first images, explores 50 years later, family by family, the history of a heroic deed of encounter, colonisation and loss, in many cases of their difficult promised land.
