12 Seymour Johnson F15E Strike Eagles of 335th Fighter Squadron depart from RAF Lakenheath. The F15E's have the tail markings of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, North Carolina and is home the 4th Fighter Wing. The base is named for U.S. Navy Lt. Seymour A. Johnson, a test pilot from Goldsboro who died in an F4F Wildcat crash near Norbeck, Maryland, on March 5, 1941.

The 335th Fighter Squadron are one of four Fighter Squadrons based at SJ AFB and are nicknamed the "Chiefs".The squadron have a well known reputation for combat and are known as the "World's Leading MiG Killers" for destroying 218.5 MiGs in aerial combat. On 10 November 1950 they took their Sabres to Korea as the 335th FighterInterceptor Squadron of the Fifth Air Force. By the end of the Korean War, the 335th led all squadrons with 218.5 kills (for around forty losses) and had become a part of the "MiG Killer" legend with 12 aces.

The first F15E (serial number 890487) in the thumbnail and the first to depart, is known as "America's Aircraft" and has the most hours of any F15 model (C, D, E). This F15E has 1 air to air kill and has the only airtoair kill by F15Es.
