UC San Diego Health

After the onset of pulsatile tinnitus and hearing loss in one ear, Sean Ward was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma. After researching the best treatment and a phone consultation with Rick Friedman, MD, PhD, neurotologist at UC San Diego Health, Sean came to San Diego for a translabyrinthine craniotomy. A cochlear implant was inserted during the surgery. After physical therapy and recovery, the implant was turned on and Sean's symptoms have improved, especially the tinnitus.
