Refurbishing old can openers is a great way to give them a new look and functionality. In this video I will show you how to renovate shutters and bring them new life.

Surface preparation: Start by removing all old paint and dirt from the surface of the shutter. Test for lead in the paint first to avoid contamination of the abrasive in the sandbox. If the paint is contaminated as in our case, first use an old paint remover to remove as much of the contaminated paint as possible. Then you can put the parts in the sandblasting box. Make sure to clean the surface thoroughly and get rid of all dust.

Damage Repair: If the shutters are damaged or have cracks, it is important to repair them.

Coating: Before applying a new coating, it is important to prepare the surface of the shutters. Use a quality primer that will ensure better adhesion of the new coating. Apply the primer to the clean and dry surface of the shutters and let it dry.

Coloring: Choose a color that matches the overall design of the room or window to which the shutters are attached. Use a quality paint designed for metal surfaces and apply it evenly to the shutters. You can use a brush or spray gun. Don't forget the outer and inner sides of the closures.

Finishing: After applying the paint, let the shutters dry well. Then you can put them back together. Make sure all parts of the can opener are properly positioned and fully functional.

Refurbishing old can openers can be a fun and satisfying project. With a little work and care, you can give your shutters a new look and extend their life.

Welcome to today's video where you saw the renovation of an old can opener.
This can sealer is from 1955.
Many of us certainly think that food preservation belongs to the modern age.
However, probably few people know that it was the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte who announced that he would pay a reward of 12 thousand francs for the discovery of a way to keep food fresh for a longer period of time.
It was succeeded in 1809 by the French confectioner and chef Nicolas Appert, who developed a preservation method.
The first cans were not made of tin, but of glass, where the food lasted for 4 months.
The classic tin can was invented in 1810 by Pierre Durand, who lived in England and presented it there for consideration by King George.
The can was approved. In 1812, the first production of canned food was started.
Cans thus became an essential part of soldiers and sailors and very quickly reached households where they still have their place today.

And that's all for today's video.
