The first seal is a recapture a previously rescued seal. The rescuers are fooled by the scar tissue, from the distance it can look like a fresh entanglement. We do not like to stress animals with unnecessary captures, but if we do like in this case, we use the opportunity to check the old wound. Recaptures are the best proof for us that seals bounce back even from deep entanglements. The second seal cannot be released as easily he has a shark hook stuck in his mouth and he is dragging a piece of fishing line behind. The rescuers have to secure him properly to avoid getting bitten during the hook removal. They know they have to hurt him before he can get better and they are all relieved once the hook is out and the seal is back in the water.
