We were in position to fish at daybreak. Unfortunately so were many others, taking advantage of the public holiday. Most of them were gone when we caught a 58cm School Mackerel on a live Herring, a meter off the bottom. It was jagged in the body and I think would have been lost if I had attempted to lift it in. Dorothy was a great support to me as usual, an extra set of hands works well. Herring were plentiful and mainly large. No rain. Gentle Southerly breeze. I saw 3 fish caught from the pier end to where I fished in 4.5 hours.
