Scaling Complex Systems by Building on Agile Frameworks with Dave Snowden and Nigel Thurlow

Agile is in a state of transition in our world of increasing and inherent uncertainty, and the software industry overall is evolving quickly to handle the promise and threat of AI with the ceaseless pressure to deliver value within restricted budgets.

Over the last three years, a small number of people and organizations have been looking at how we can shift to a ‘best of breed’, multimethod approach to agility that moves beyond a simple, defined process into something more coevolutionary and highly adaptive to provide a better flow of value.

At the heart of this is complex adaptive systems theory, which understands scale not as some form of aggregation and repetition but more like DNA, a process of decomposition and recombination that allows contextspecific solutions to be created. This 'best of breed' method is something called Hexi.

In this Scrum Pulse webinar, we are happy to host Prof Dave Snowden, creator of the Cynefin framework, and Nigel Thurlow, PST, cocreator of The Flow System and creator of Scrum The Toyota Way. They will outline the Hexi approach and how it can help practitioners extend their toolkits beyond the constraints of frameworks and discover how to truly scale a complex adaptive system in its own context. This session will be moderated by Patricia Kong, Product Owner of Content, Scrum.org.
