Sam, the English Setter, came to us after his owner passed away but it was evident that he had experienced years of neglect. His fur was matted, fecal covered, and dragging on the floor. He couldn't lift his tail or walk naturally. Sam was timid and too stressed to eat. He finally began to bond with our animal care staff at which point we were able to shave his backend and give him some relief. The next day, Dr. Will Bryer, was able to lightly sedate him so we could remove the remaining mats, clip his overgrown nails, and examine a large lipoma that took over his entire chest.
Sam can walk, run, and wag his tail! He is happy to go on daily walks and gets along with other dogs but he still has a long way to go. Sam is at least 10 years old and overdue for a dental. The Lipoma will also need to be removed and biopsied.
