Spring 2023 has brought an abundance of life and activity to the river, and we are incredibly excited to share this unforgettable experience with you. Salmonfishing during spring can be very difficult and it was. We've spend days searching for the beautiful salmon shown in this video and both experiences good and tough experiences. Since both rain, low water and especially windy condition has made it very difficult. In the end almost all of us succeeded in finding our way to a very special moment shared together with friends and nature.

Why Skjern River?
Skjern River is known as one of the best salmon fishing rivers in Denmark, and spring brings a special energy and excitement to the water. The fresh water currents attract the salmon, making it the perfect time to experience the vibrant nature.

The story of the Danish salmon fishing industry is a tale of triumph. In the past, stocks were almost depleted, but with hard work and dedication from those involved, the population has rebounded to impressive levels. From 2010 to 2020, the Skjern river’s salmon population has nearly doubled, with an estimated annual run of almost 6,000 salmon. The average size in the spring is 89 kilograms, though it decreases to 56 kilograms at the end of the season due to the grilse run.

Denmark is home to several rivers with high numbers of salmon, all located on the west coast of Jutland. The Skjern river, Varde river, and Storå are particularly known for their big runs of large fish. Danish rivers are unique in that they are slowmoving due to the flat terrain, requiring special techniques, flies, and lures to reach the fish that often hold deep. These tactics are highly effective and can be adapted and used with confidence on other rivers around the world.
