Film from a 35nm passage from Whitefish Point to Grand Marais, MI on Sept 1st 2023 during my summer circumnavigation of Lake Superior. Sailing roughly 5° from closehauled in 2030 kt SW wind with a single reefed main and staysail. This allowed for better boat speed by not going headon into waves averaging 5 6.5kts. Fortunately, I was able to hold a course within a few miles of, and parallel to shore without having to tack to make the entrance for Grand Marais. With the relatively short fetch waves were only 34ft. Still, a long, grueling day!
