RV Solar Panel Tilting for Maximum Boondocking Power || Off-Grid RV Solar Power!

Our RV solar panels save money by reducing diesel fuel consumption through reduced generator use. But our big reason for installing them is the QUIET we get from not running our generator so much. Ahhh... the peace and quiet of RV Solar!

During winter months, the sun never gets very high in the sky, so tilt kits provide a substantial increase in power by more directly aiming our solar panels at the sun. Here's a look at exactly how much extra power we get as we raise the panels.

NOTE: When we mentioned in the video that our solar panels were "perpendicular" the sun, we meant laterally, as in they were facing due south and the sun was at its highest point in the sky that day, directly off the right side of the RV. To get the panels vertically perpendicular to the sun, the tilt height needs to be adjusted higher or lower depending on the time of year and current location of the RV. See the excellent posts by all three of our friends and fellow RVers (the Wynns, Technomadia & Wheeling It) for more detailed info on that topic.

And, yes, we know that Nikki & Jason are no longer RVing, but this video was shot while they were! It just had to sit in the cue until we got back from Australia. ;)
