RV Slide Topper Install Easy!
We did it, with zero trips to Lowe's!

Our slide topper was over ten years old and looked a little rough. We don't want to blame "out west" for its wear and tear, but if you've ever been hammered by high winds for days or weeks, you know what we mean. Then the sun beating down on it for years added to the deterioration. It needed to be replaced.

We ordered a new slide topper from Shade Pro (https://www.shadepro.net/). They are very helpful if you need any assistance in ordering your topper. There is a guide on their website that tells you how to measure for your new slide topper. We were impressed with the quality of our new topper compared to our old sad topper.

The hardest part about our install was removing the rusted in screw that anchors the topper to the RV. It had to be drilled and hammered out of the RV gutter, but we finally got it out. Both anchor screws were replaced with new screws.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you secure the springloaded roll with an ice pick or a screwdriver. This can cause injury if not secured properly.

The key is to load the new topper, slowly, like six inches at a time. If one person is doing it, it is a lot of back and forth, feeding it and then pulling it.

The final step is to run the slide in and out a few times. We did and everything is looking good.

Thank you to the couple we met, I think it was in Texas, who shared how easy it was to change their slide topper. This encouraged us to go for it when the time came.

Coming soon, changing the oil in our 33' diesel pusher. Woohoo!
