When it comes to route planning and reservations, we stay flexible. Our initial plans were to travel to Helen, GA, because it stood out in the previous season as one of the places we'd like to explore more indepth. But snow in GA changed our minds! We decided to stay along the coast and visit Kitty Hawk, NC, to see the Wright Brothers National Monument. We really enjoyed the city of Kitty Hawk, the Wright Brothers museum, and Bodie Island Light Station. It would have been nice to see more of the Outer Banks, but our lastminute reservations were limited due to the route change. We still got to enjoy watching the boats travel along the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) near Coinjock, NC. We've been dry camping more than ever this season. We stayed 4 nights at a Boondockers Welcome in Charleston, SC, and desperately needed to find a dump station. Necessity inspired us to use a truck stop for the first time ... and maybe the last. The first truck stop's dump station was closed and the second was hard to access.
