Project RV: Living Lost

Now that our Oregon adventures are over, we begin our crosscountry roadtrip to Charlotte, NC. Our goal: make it home before Christmas 3500 miles in 6 days. For this trip, we kept track of our gas and RV park costs to give you a good idea of how much a crosscountry RV trip costs.
We also have some detailed RV roadtrip tips and tricks!

✅ Check the weather before and during your roadtrip
✅ Add extra time to your estimated GPS arrival time for slower driving and extra rest stops
✅ Use apps such as Campedium and RV Life to help find RV spots on your route (We like KOAs for their consistency, late checkins, and because we have a KOA membership)
✅ If you book your RV parks as you go, try to book by midday once you have an idea of how far you might go
✅ Pay attention to where you are crossing time zones factor this in for both driving time and booking RV parks so you don’t miss their office hours
✅ When driving with dogs, bring a portable water bowl, pillows and blankets; Also, use the dog runs/ parks before you hit the road to help get out some of their zoomies!
✅ Look for gas stations labeled “Truck Stop” or “Travel Station” they generally have more room to maneuver and better supply and food options (common examples: Pilot, Loves, Flying J, Bucee’s)
✅ Take lots of breaks, stretch, drink plenty of water (your bathroom is right behind you!) we like to take 1530 min breaks
✅ Pack snacks and lunches to avoid having to stop for food; avoid fast food, which can make you feel sluggish
✅ Keep up with car maintenance before and during the trip oil change, tire pressure, clean windshield, etc.
✅ Predownload your podcasts, music, and audiobooks for when you inevitably lose service
✅ Invest in things to improve your roadtrips supportive butt pillows, inverter (changes your car’s 12volt power to a normal household plug), laptop stand, noisecancelling headphones, etc.
