Running Network Cable in the Home Office and Living Room |Cat6 Ethernet

Follow
SPX Labs

Today we are finally running Cat6 Ethernet around the house inside the walls and installing ethernet jacks. While this did take some considerable effort, running network cable around the house is totally worth it. We ran cable to the home office so I could have additional network drops in there, as well as added network drops into the living room. Our switch is POE capable and it will be able to power our wireless access point, so that is one less cable we need for our WiFi equipment.

We did chose to forgot Cat7 and Cat8 ethernet because my home is only 2000sq ft. So cat6 will still be able to provide 10GbE to pretty much every drop in every room. If the house were a bit bigger I would have opted for Cat6a instead but honestly, it wouldn't be necessary.
