♀ From Tammy:
"Though we're known for rescuing lions and tigers, when we saw this tiny tabby cat suffering with severe breathing issues, we knew we had to help.
At first glance, this little 4pound cat named Rocket, who whistles when she breathes, may seem endearing.
But sadly, this injury happened at just 3 months old when she was injured by a large dog. She suffered damage to her eye and skull.
Rocket is now over a year old, yet only 4 pounds.
Though her eye was surgically removed back then, it appears she’s been dealing with severe breathing issues ever since.
The damage is making it very difficult for her to breathe and eat. Since she breathes through her mouth, breathing while eating or drinking is very difficult for her.
She's such a sweet cat who purrs all the time. But unfortunately, breathing while purring is even more difficult for her. Her family surrendered her to ensure she'd receive the medical care she deserves.
Rocket's here with us now. She's had her initial vet exam, where we found she also has tapeworms.
She'll be seen by specialists for a consult and will most likely need a CT scan and surgery to make her more comfortable.
We may be a big cat sanctuary, but we love cats of all sizes.
Our goal is to help her breathe more comfortably in hopes she can live the long and healthy life she deserves. Rocket’s veterinary care is anticipated to cost thousands of dollars. Yes, helping her will be expensive, but how could we not?
I hope you might consider a donation for little Rocket so we can give her the care she so desperately needs."
