9,820 cubic yards (982 truckloads) of Silvi Concrete have been poured at the RumsonSea Bright Bridge S32 Replacement Project. This moveable "bascule" bridge (often referred to as a "drawbridge" in American vernacular) spans the Shrewsbury River and will link the Borough of Rumson with the Borough of Sea Bright in Monmouth County, NJ. Contracted to Richard E. Pierson Construction Co., the bridge is being built alongside and just south of the existing doubleleaf bascule bridge.

"Built in 1950, the existing bridge was approaching the end of its useful life, with structural and functional limitations that did not meet today’s design standards. Monmouth County, in coordination with NJTPA, NJDOT and FHWA, completed the bridge replacement design and advanced the project to construction so to maintain an important transportation link for the local communities and the region that also serves as a coastal evacuation route" (rumsonseabrightbridge.com).

The bridge also features a fiberreinforced plastic (FRP) fender system, designed to absorb and deflect energy away from the main piers in the event of a boat collision. With 300 more cubic yards of concrete scheduled, the bridge is expected to be completed in 2025, after which traffic will shift to the new structure and the existing bridge will be demolished.
