I just bought an older 1997 Jayco Pop Up camper that required some much needed TLC. Get inspired to buy and renovate your own camper, learning all about how to best waterproof it and painting your cabinets and canvas for a pretty dramatic transformation. Apparently yes you CAN paint that old vinyl old cabinetry AND the canvas.

IN THIS VIDEO:
Spray on waterproofing product: I used 2 bottles of Nikwax from Cabela's which I actually found $5 cheaper on Amazon here from another brand that has great reviews: https://amzn.to/3I6NjPi'>https://amzn.to/3I6NjPi

Steps for Waterproofing & Painting:

Waterproofing:
1. Clean your canvas (bucket of water with vinegar and dish soap will do just fine)
2. Spray on waterproofing product to canvas and follow directions on label I used 2 bottles of Nikwax from Cabela's which I actually found $5 cheaper on Amazon here from another brand that has great reviews: https://amzn.to/3I6NjPi'>https://amzn.to/3I6NjPi
3. Take off the old silicone from your roof. Primarily the 3 parallel lines that run down your camper, one on each side and one in the middle, as well as around any vents or air conditioning units.
4. Once the old silicone is completely removed, tape edges with painters tape as wide as you want the new silicone to be (not too wide as to not waste product), and fill with new silicone smoothing out with a small wooden tool or whatever you can find. Ensure you are using a 100% silicone product (found easily at your local hardware store such as Home Depot, Rona, etc.). I like this brand by Gorilla https://amzn.to/3SIEgZS'>https://amzn.to/3SIEgZS
5. Let dry and you're done!

Painting:
1. Two coats of Kilz Interior Primer (found easily at your local Home Depot/Rona store)
2. Two coats of pearl interior paint, choose your colour!
3. 1 can of high heat spray paint for the vents/accessories (I used a BBQ spray paint in mat black), I like this one: https://amzn.to/48mU1eE'>https://amzn.to/48mU1eE

Voila! Your camper is now thoroughly waterproofed and painted.
