Hi, it's Beatrice Godoy again from Davis & Associates. Today I wanted to talk to you about the Removal of Conditions on a Green Card. So, if you got your Green Card based on marriage and in the day of approval, you were not married as of yet for two years, immigration will give you a conditional Green Card.

What does that mean? Is it in any way less than a regular Green Card? No, you still have the right to travel, you still have the right to work in this country, but it is limited in time. You only get it valid for two years, and you have a requirement to file an application to remove those conditions 90 days prior to the date of expiration.

So, this is a requirement, it is not optional. If you fail to take action, you will lose your status, so it's very important you set yourself a reminder, and you make sure you get that done.

We are here at Davis & Associates to help you with this process. The reason why congress made this into the law is because they want to make sure that immigration didn't make a mistake the first time around when they approved you, and it was a relatively new relationship. So, the point of this process is to reassure immigration that it was a real relationship.

This application should be filed with your spouse. What happens if you're no longer together if things didn't work out, but it was a real relationship for love? Well, that's what immigration wants to see. They want to make sure that maybe it didn't work out, but it was the real thing, so there's a different process that needs to be done, and we're here to help you call us today.
