How to set up any 420 mA Output Meter to precisely match any desired units when the native device does not output those units.

We will use a 420 mA LOOP POWERED REMOTE Display driven by 420 mA to do this task.

We prefer the Automation Direct DPM1 Series for this task.

This is frequently utilized on Tactical Flow Meter Mag meters or Tactical Flow Ultrasonic flow meters where the units desired by the customer differ from the AVAILABLE units.

The METHOD is to configure the meter to indicate 420 mA in units that the device has that equal those of the desired.

For example:

If we wish to DISPLAY 0150 PPM (Pounds per minute) we would note that our device can only "Speak" in lph. Our task is to discover what value in lph is equivalent to 150 PPM. We will then set the 20 mA Full Scale value to this number.

Our Fluid Density is 2.0833 Lb/liter
Our LB/Min desired is 150 Lb/Min or 150 PPM

Math is as follows:
150 Lb/Min * (l/2.0833 Bl) * 60 Min/Hr = 4320.07 l/h or lph

This means we SCALE our device for 04320.07 l/hr for 420 mA and this very same 4320.07 l/h is 150 Lb/Min or 150 PPM
