I also remembered that today I need to call the owner of the house and inform him about the box. After breakfast, I picked up the phone and dialed the owner's phone number, but no one answered the call. After some time, I repeated the call, and so on several times, but the owner still did not answer. About two hours later there was a knock on the door. I opened it, and an elegant man of about fifty stood on the threshold. He was very worried. "Good afternoon!" he said. Then he continued: “My name is Nicholas, I have something to tell you, may I come in?” I let him in because it started snowing outside again. "What brings you to this house?" I asked. He continued: “Don’t get me wrong, but something very important brought me here. The fact is that two weeks ago my wife and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and for this we decided to go on vacation. For our vacation, we chose this house, which you are renting now. In secret from my wife, I prepared a gift for her, but I was never able to give it. On the eve of the anniversary, a severe snow storm began. It was so strong that all residents of the village were quickly evacuated. We had to leave very quickly because there was a threat of an avalanche. In my haste, I forgot a gift for my wife, which I hid under the sofa. Please tell me, did you happen to find it?" I smiled and then nodded towards the nightstand where the box stood. He looked at the box without expressing any emotion. Then he looked at me again, there was confusion in his eyes. “Here it is, your gift for your wife, lying on the nightstand,” I said. He replied: “Sorry, but you are confusing something, it is not him. My gift was packed in a cylindershaped box. In the box was an antique vase that I bought at an auction.” I was very surprised, because I understood that there certainly could not be a vase in a small box.
