TEDx Talks

Kate Riley believes the environment in which we enter our final days may very well orchestrate the entire experience. What if we brought back the lost art of sacred dying? Kate shares her vision for a community guest house, a place where the dying are tenderly cared for on the emotional, physical and spiritual levels. Kate Riley is a certified death midwife, minister, international story consultant, author and educator. She began her work in the field of death and dying after completing hospice training thirty years ago. Later she enrolled in advanced study and became a certified death midwife/doula through Final Passages.

Kate is the author of Launching Vee’s Chariot: An Endof Life Tale. The book Launching chronicles the last nine months of Vee’s life and conscious dying process. Kate claims that her mother, Vee, rocked the boat on everything Kate thought she knew about the dying process.

Kate is in private practice, available for endof life consultations no matter the stage a person is entering. Kate serves as a liaison for individuals facing endof life decisions, working with their families and medical teams in providing a more personcentered approach. She encourages and supports those who want to take an active role in their own dying process. Kate lives in the hills of Hailey, Idaho. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
