5:13:00 1st puppy finally arrives!

Good morning, friends and families! Thank you for joining us! We hope you are doing well on this sunny Thursday morning!

Myra is getting sooo close to having her puppies! She kept me up for the better part of the night, wanting up and down to go ruffle her whelping pool towels. She is even clingier than before, 'restlessness' is an overwhelming understatement, and she's begun the panting! Our mama dogs almost always have these episodes of panting leading up to and during labor. Myra is very stoic and pants very little, but we noticed this morning that with any exertion at all, she begins panting. Fingers crossed that today is the day! With each passing day, those puppies' heads are getting bigger... We are really hoping to have puppies today!

She's at 63 days gestation today, the longest pregnancy we've had! Standard canine gestation is 63 days, but all of our Cavaliers have always delivered between 5659 days' gestation. We have everything set up around her whelping pool, and as soon as she begins active labor we will start the whelping livestream.

We are still fundraising for Amelia's family, so we will be running ads however we are going to reduce them to a neutral target for a less interrupted stream. Welcome to the Red Barn Cavaliers family home! We stream all stages of our dogs' lives, lately we have been following our expecting mom, Myra, and now that she is ready to deliver her puppies we are streaming the birth. We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with an emphasis on their emotionalsocial development. We raise all of our puppies for the distinct purpose of becoming Emotional Support Animals. Their ability to tune into their handler's emotional needs can't compare to any other breed, which is why we use Cavaliers only to raise ESAs.

We potty train our puppies using pine pellets designed for rehydration, beginning between 57 days old. Our puppies typically understand where to go potty within about a week of practice, and they soon learn to use the tray all on their own. We keep our newborn puppies in our bedroom with us so that we can assist Mom throughout the night and be available to help puppies move and navigate their way around.
